Rays of Hope

May 22, 2020

We have all gone through a lot in these last months, from a vibrant strong economy to a complete worldwide economic shutdown. The world we knew is no longer and we are entering into a new “normal.” As the country begins to slowly reopen, there is still so much uncertainty. In times like these it can be very difficult to have a positive outlook, especially on your investments. Here are some questions that may be on your mind and some helpful insight from me to provide you with some HOPE!

 1. Dividends – Will companies continue to pay dividends in the current economic downturn?

Yes, in a recent article by American Funds there are many companies that are committed to providing and in some cases increasing their dividend payouts to shareholders. Among some of the US companies are Procter & Gamble, Johnson and Johnson, Starbucks, and ExxonMobil. In Europe, Nestle and a German chemical giant BASF have committed to sustaining their dividend payouts. ~ capitalgroup.com

 2. Bonds – Should I move my investments to more bonds and out of equities?

Keep in mind that what we have been working together on is creating a well-diversified portfolio that is matched to your GOALS, risk tolerance and investment objectives. I know it is challenging to keep our emotions out of our investment decisions but staying the course is more important now than ever. We have created an investment portfolio that is positioned to weather these storms and not created in reaction to market downturns. As always if you want to review your investments specifically please give me a call!

 3. Markets – The markets were hit pretty hard, should I do something differently?

Remember that what the media reports is not always a reflection of your investment portfolio. Also it is important to keep things in perspective. Although the markets were hit pretty hard in March/April we have seen more stability and better market returns due in a large part to some of the early actions that were taken with the stimulus package, Payroll protection loans, and lower of federal rates.

We will be returning to the office next week and we are here for you! If you have questions or would like to meet with me we have several options including a live ZOOM call! Here is a link to my calendar to schedule a call https://calendly.com/jessicam-6/client.

Thank you for your on-going trust in us as your advisors!\
